First Weekend!

So yesterday we went to Red Square and it was absolutely incredible! The first thing we did was get in line to see Lenin's body. He's preserved in this mausoleum and you have to be really quiet when you walk in and there are guards throughout and you just walk through and see him. We waited for about an hour out in the cold (it was about 50 degrees Farenheit) and so worth it. He looks like he's made of wax but they say that he's not (but it definitely looks like wax). He's kinda short, too. Outside of the mausoleum is Stalin's headstone as well. Then we walked through GUM which is this huge mall that, during Soviet times, was the place where they went to get their ration of bread and clothes, etc. But it's a really nice shopping mall now and we got coffee and lunch. After GUM we headed to my favorite part of the day-St. Basil's Cathedral which is the cathedral with the colorful onion domes!! When people get married, they visit all of the landmarks in Red Square so we saw all kinds of brides getting their pictures taken (and it was Russian Flag Day so it was really busy). We toured the Cathedral which was so colorful and beautiful inside (it was built in the 16th century!). We decided to save the Kremlin for another day but walked down to the Moscow River and you can see the buildings over the Kremlin wall. Don't worry...pictures will be here soon!!
Today we went to an international church (with people from all over) and went to lunch at the house of some British people who live there with their three children. We met all these wonderful, nice people and talked with them for hours and they told us all of their "tips" and advice and told us they would take us shopping and they have Bible study on Tuesday nights and one of the women meets with all the girls and they try a new coffeeshop every week. The little British kids had the cutest accents and the British people all think we're funny because we love their accents.
I'm still totally and completely exhausted but I'm staying busy and meeting lots of great people!

Why didn't you tell me it was flag day in Russia. You know flag day is one of my favorite holidays. Had I know I would have celebrated by buying a Russian flag, or at least printing a picture of one from the internet. By the way, mom can't figure out how to call you. And you left your electric adapters here. I would say that mom my send them, but if she can't even work a phone I would say forget the mail system.
Do they put Wodka in their coffee?
